A: A Business License is not required in
Franklin County, with the exception of peddlers, dance halls, amusement
operators, automobile graveyards and any businesses located within the Town
limits of Rocky Mount. These licenses may be obtained at the
Administration Office located at 40 East Court Street, Rocky Mount, VA 24151
except for the amusement operators license which can be obtained in the
Commissioner of Revenue's office located in the Franklin County Courthouse
at 275 South Main Street, Suite 106, Rocky Mount, VA.

A: A dog license can be purchased at the
Treasurer's Office located in the Franklin County Courthouse at 275 South Main Street, Suite 232, Rocky Mount, VA.
All dogs must be vaccinated against rabies and licensed by four months of
age. Annual licenses, issued by the County Treasurer's Office, are
$10.00 for female and male not sterilized dogs and $4.00 for male and female
sterilized dogs. A statement from a certified veterinarian indicating
that the animal has been spayed must be presented to receive the discounted
rate for female dogs. A certificate of current rabies inoculation is
required before a license can be issued.

do I buy County Decals for vehicles?
A: County vehicle decals are purchased at the
Treasurer's Office located in the Franklin County Courthouse at 275 South Main Street, Suite 232, Rocky Mount, VA. You need to bring with you the registration card (or copy) for the vehicle and social security numbers for all persons listed on the registration card. The cost of the decal is $25 through September of each year and prorated after September. County decals expire April 15th of each year. County decals can be transferred from one vehicle to another as long as you keep the same state license tag. If new tags are purchased, you can bring your decal to the Treasurer's Office along with the registration card for the new vehicle and the Treasurer's Office will issue a transfer for $1.00.
Town vehicle decals can be purchased at the Rocky Mount Municipal Building, 345 Donald Avenue, Rocky Mount, VA. The cost is $15.00 and are due by March 31st.
